In the last thirty years I have worked with many different
materials and approaches to making art in the studio as well as for site-specific
public works such as large-scale sculptures and landscape-oriented works. An important
concern in my work is a focus on specific sculptural elements such as form, shape,
color, texture, etc. As an artist, I strive to achieve a strong presence and meditative
quality in my work.
I believe in strong, fundamental art education as well
as the need to promote an individual approach to art in our students. Students
with four years of work in our department should acquire skills in critical thinking
and analysis and gain a wide range of knowledge in art.
